The New Zealand Cadet Forces (NZCF) is a disciplined, uniformed organisation which provides military-based leadership, personal development and operational training to persons aged between 13 and 18 years old.
OUR VALUES
Preparing New Zealand's successful leaders of tomorrow.
The New Zealand Cadet Forces (NZCF) core values revolve around Comradeship, Commitment, Courage, and Integrity with the aim to foster a spirit of adventure and teamwork, and to develop those qualities of mind and body for good citizens and leaders.
OUR TRAINING
POWERED FLYING
We try and encourage our cadets to give everything a go atleast once, and as a result we have many of our cadets, NCO's and even staff that are persuing careers in aviation. The powered flying camps dont stop at a unit level however, we have national level courses too.
GLIDING
Gliding is one of our most common flying activities in the unit and it's the activity that most cadets tend to pursue in the field of aviation. Gliding is perfect for our young aviators to get a grip of basic controls before they get into powered aircraft.
The second camp of the year for our first-year recruit flight has always been a bushcraft camp, and its always a great highlight to the year. Many cadets that develop an interest go on to do more of these kinds of activities with Duke of Edinburgh and also as part of the office corps you can partake in National Bushcraft.
BUSHCRAFT
The second camp of the year for our first-year recruit flight has always been a bushcraft camp, and its always a great highlight to the year. Many cadets that develop an interest go on to do more of these kinds of activities with Duke of Edinburgh and also as part of the office corps you can partake in National Bushcraft.
LEADERSHIP
Leadership is more a trait that we teach rather than a training activity, but the backbone to EVERY one of our activities is the thought of "How can devlop leaders of tomorrow?". The foundation of this trait among other things is what we look for before we send our cadets off to courses.
SHOOTING
In our unit, our most common and fought for team is our shooting team. Our shooting team is the team that trains the longest before going to their Wallingford and Ffennell competitions. This is the activity that is the most captivating and anticipated by the cadets.
DRILL
Drill is part of the foundtaion and is one of the fundamentals of the unit. We parade every wednesday night and most activites held by the Cadet Forces you will be required to know the basics of drill.
